Description
The TP-Link ER605 (TL-R605) is a versatile Gigabit VPN router engineered for enterprise-grade network demands. Ideal for SMBs, branch offices, or remote locations, it supports multi-WAN configurations: 1 fixed Gigabit WAN port, 2 WAN/LAN ports (which can be used as WAN or LAN), plus 2 dedicated LAN ports. For WAN redundancy, there’s also a USB 2.0 port that supports a 4G/3G modem for backup.
On the security front, ER605 handles large VPN workloads: up to 20 LAN-to-LAN IPsec tunnels, and up to 16 OpenVPN, L2TP, and PPTP tunnels concurrently. Strong firewall, DoS protection, IP/MAC/URL filtering, VLAN tagging, and advanced NAT features make it suitable for environments where security and traffic control matter.
Performance-wise, the ER605 delivers near-Gigabit performance under most WAN types: Static IP, DHCP, PPPoE, etc. It also supports load balancing, link backup/failover, and policy-based routing. In terms of capacity, it supports up to 150,000 concurrent sessions and ~2,600 new sessions per second.
Physically, the ER605 is compact and efficient: fanless steel enclosure, wall mountable or desktop placement, low power consumption (~7.94 W), and includes 128 MB flash + 256 MB DRAM. It integrates into TP-Link Omada SDN for seamless site-wide management, zero touch provisioning, and remote monitoring.
