Description

The MikroTik ATL 5G R16 is MikroTik’s first outdoor 5G device that integrates a high-gain antenna with a cutting-edge Release 16 5G modem and embedded eSIM capabilities. It is tailored for deployments where cellular connectivity is the primary WAN—such as rural areas, IoT sites, remote links, or as a failover link in enterprise networks.

It includes a 16 dBi directional antenna and supports 4×4 MIMO across key low and middle frequency bands, including Band 28, to ensure robust coverage even in challenging areas. The device accepts PoE-in (802.3af/at, 12–56 V) power, enabling a single-cable installation for data and power.

On the inside, it runs on a dual-core ARM 88F3720 CPU (800 MHz) with 512 MB RAM and 32 MB Flash storage, under RouterOS v7 (License level 3). Connectivity is through a 1 GbE RJ45 port. For SIM support it offers microSIM + eSIM, with built-in support for MikroTik’s own connectivity plans.

The ATL’s enclosure is IP66-rated, and the form factor is designed to shed snow and water. It is rated to operate between –40 °C and +70 °C. Typical power consumption is 10 W (with or without attachments).

This device is ideal when you want a rugged, self-contained 5G WAN endpoint with minimal additional antenna infrastructure. It works effectively as a primary link or backup, especially in locations where fiber isn’t viable.

Applications

Outdoor WAN / cellular backhaul, rural & remote connectivity, failover links for critical infrastructure, IoT cellular gateways, MDU / remote branch connectivity.
Its directional antenna and environmental ruggedness make it suitable for challenging installations with minimal infrastructure overhead.
