Description
The TP-Link Archer BE230 (also marketed as BE3600) brings many of the next-generation WiFi 7 features into a more affordable dual-band package. It supports ultra-fast wireless speeds (≈ 2.88 Gbps on the 5 GHz band + 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz) using 802.11be / 802.11ax, enabling large throughput demands like 4K/8K streaming, AR/VR usage, and high-speed file transfers.
Hardware includes 2× 2.5 Gbps ports (1 WAN + 1 LAN) to break past the usual 1 Gbps wired bottleneck, plus 3 additional 1 Gbps LAN ports. A USB 3.0 port allows connection of external storage for shared media, FTP / Samba server use, etc. Four external high-gain antennas and beamforming enhance range coverage and signal strength.
On the software/security side, the BE230 includes HomeShield, guest networks, access control, and supports VPN server/client modes. It’s also EasyMesh-compatible, which means you can extend coverage with other EasyMesh routers or extenders under a single network name. Dual modes (Router / Access Point) are supported. While it does not include the 6 GHz band (so not tri-band / WiFi 6E style), it still packs a lot of WiFi7’s newer features (MLO, Multi-RUs, 4K-QAM) that improve throughput and latency especially when many devices or demanding applications are involved. For households midway between current setups and a full high end upgrade, the BE230 is a strong bridge.
