Description
The TP-Link Archer AX12 (AX1500) is built for users transitioning into WiFi 6—homeowners wanting smoother streaming, reduced latency, and more connected devices without jumping to premium models. It operates on dual bands, offering 1201 Mbps at 5 GHz (using 802.11ax) and 300 Mbps at 2.4 GHz (802.11n), which together provide up to ~1.5 Gbps theoretical throughput.
To improve coverage and network stability, the AX12 includes four fixed high-performance external antennas, Beamforming for signal focus, OFDMA to serve multiple clients efficiently, and Airtime Fairness to prevent any single device from hogging the bandwidth.
On the hardware side, it features one Gigabit WAN port and three Gigabit LAN ports for wired devices. The router is powered via 12 V ⎓ 1 A supply. Management can be done through TP-Link’s Tether mobile app or via web interface. Security is modern: WPA3-Personal & WPA2 compatibility, guest networks, parental controls, access control, IPv4/IPv6 support, and the usual router modes.
Physically, it’s a relatively lightweight, compact router, suitable for table or shelf placement. Ideal for smart homes, streaming, light online gaming, and ensuring more modern device compatibility.
