Description
The MikroTik CRS418-8P-8G-2S+RM is a hybrid switch/router platform built for networks that demand both robust Layer 2 switching and capable routing functionality in one device. It runs RouterOS version 7, allowing full control over L2/L3 features while offloading packet forwarding to its hardware switch chip for optimal performance.
This device includes 16 × 1 GbE ports (of which 8 ports supply PoE, supporting 802.3af/at), and 2 × 10G SFP+ ports for uplinks or fiber backhaul. Total PoE budget is 150 W with per-port current limits depending on voltage.
Its quad-core IPQ-8072 CPU (2.2 GHz), paired with 1 GB RAM and 128 MB NAND storage, can handle routing, firewall, QoS, VPN, and other services on top of switching.
Power redundancy is catered via dual AC inputs (100–240 V). Cooling is handled by 4 internal fans.
Use cases include serving as an aggregation switch with PoE for APs/cameras, handling edge routing in small to mid networks, or consolidating multiple devices into one rackmount unit.
Applications
Home Wi-Fi, Small offices, Enterprise networks, ISPs, Hospitality, Education, Surveillance systems.
Its PoE-out capabilities make it ideal for powering IP cameras, VoIP phones, and APs, while dual 10G SFP+ uplinks ensure high-bandwidth backhaul for enterprise and ISP environments.
