Description
The TP-Link Tapo C246D delivers versatile surveillance with dual 3MP lenses: a fixed wide-angle for broad area coverage and a pan/tilt telephoto lens for zoomed-in detail. The fixed lens has a ~125° diagonal field of view (approx. 2.8 mm focal length, f/1.6), while the telephoto lens (6 mm, f/1.6) can pan and tilt to follow motion.
Capable of capturing video at 2304 × 1296 resolution at 15 fps, the camera supports H.264 compression with digital zoom (~10.8×) and features such as 3D noise reduction and wide dynamic range to improve image quality in challenging lighting. Night vision is supported up to ~12 m (40 ft), with IR LEDs plus built-in spotlights for color night vision in smart mode.
Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the C246D has an IP65-rated enclosure that protects against dust and water. It works in temperatures from -20 °C to 50 °C. Connectivity is via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n); no 5 GHz listed. It supports local microSD storage up to 512 GB and offers cloud storage via Tapo Care.
Intelligence features include AI detection of people, pets, vehicles, baby cries, customizable activity zones, privacy zones, motion tracking: when the fixed wide lens detects motion, the pan/tilt telephoto lens can follow the subject. Built-in speaker and mic allow two-way audio. Smart integrations include Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings.
