Description
The MikroTik FTC21-ups is an intelligent outdoor fiber media converter built for locations where power interruptions and brownouts are common. Instead of simply converting fiber to Ethernet, it includes a built-in UPS system using two internal Li-Ion 18650 batteries. These batteries are designed to bridge short power losses and voltage fluctuations, preventing connected devices from rebooting and avoiding Ethernet renegotiation. This helps maintain stable network links for CCTV systems, wireless radios, and remote network devices.
The unit provides one SFP port supporting both 1G and 2.5G modules, plus two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Ether1 accepts either 802.3af/at PoE-in or DC power, while Ether2 can provide passive PoE-out at either 24V or 48V, selectable by a hardware switch. This allows the FTC21-ups to power devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, or outdoor radios directly from the converter.
Unlike ordinary unmanaged media converters, the FTC21-ups runs a full version of SwOS Lite. It includes Layer 2 management features such as interface monitoring, VLAN support, SNMP reporting, traffic shaping, and advanced Access Control Lists. The ACL engine supports filtering and VLAN tagging based on Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4 traffic conditions, giving administrators greater control over edge network traffic.
The device is housed in a compact IP67-rated enclosure designed for outdoor use in harsh environments. It supports temperatures from -40°C to +70°C and can be mounted on a pole, mast, or wall using the included hardware. With low power consumption and built-in battery intelligence, the FTC21-ups is ideal for outdoor telecom cabinets, remote surveillance systems, and fiber-connected edge devices.
